Posted 5-19-22 Sometimes you read good reviews and wonder if the person writing it is real, or maybe getting paid to write a positive review on the product. Then you have negative reviews and wonder if the person actually owns the product or is writing it just to dissuade you from buying it for no other reason than that's how they get their kicks. Six of one half dozen of the other. Let me assure you I am neither of these. Like you I work hard for my money and try to spend wisely, I have...
Ok tool but quirky
I have had this tool for several years (a gift). For that reason I have learned to live with the quirks. The feed is uneven often leaving snipe marks. The belts brake easily but are very difficult to replace.

Hello Valued Customer, I appreciate your feedback on the DW734 12-1/2 Thickness Planer with Three Knife Cutter-Head and I'm sorry to hear the feed is ...
Poor experience
I love all things Dewalt tools... Drills, drivers, table saws, miter saws. This is the only Dewalt tool that I strongly dislike. I picked up my first Dewalt planer 1 year ago. After a few short uses I noticed strange gouge lines on the work piece after going through the planer. The rubber rollers were also not pulling the stock through the machine. I was having to force the stock into the machine. I was not trying to take off too much material at one time. At this time I was still able to exchan...

Zero snipes
I was choosing between Craftsman and this Dewalt unit for my DIY garage workshop. Initially i was inclinied toward Craftsman due to cheaper price. However, after i saw lots of positive reviews regarding "no snipes" on Dewalt, i forced my self to spend a bit more. The unit comes fully assembled and all you need is to attach the blower cover and the shaft handle. And it's ready to go! The locking mechanism seems plays a great deal fighting with snipes. If left unlocked - you can feel it takes mor...
I purchased this planer to replace a delta 22-560 that my grandfather left me. The delta finally destroyed itself and I couldn't find replacement parts so I had to replace it. I was hesitant at first because newer equipment doesn't seem to last as long as the older stuff. upon opening the box I wasn't surprised to see everything in its intended spot from the torx bit wrench to the combination wrench sitting on the output shield. I've recognized a professional standard for Dewalt over the years. ...
Shop Vacs Are NOT enough!
Okay, I did a lot of watching Youtube videos and reading reviews so I went ahead and purchased one. Try as I may I couldn't get the snipe under control plus cranking down the head there was some clicking and thumping as it went down with some drops along the way. BUT, the biggest problem was a shop vac, even my new powerful one was not enough to clear the chips away not to mention the bag inside filled very fast. Come to find out I need to spend more money on a more powerful dust collection ...

Very Good Little WorkHorse For The Buck
Well it certainly lives up to the DeWalt name. I have tried it on three separate pieces of wood that I plan on using for a project and the planet did exactly as expected. It took a little to get used I won’t say it didn’t. But once I got the hang of it there was no stopping me. Now to be honest yes there some lines in the wood from the blades but they are very very superficial. If you think that you’re going to get away without having to do any sanding than you are only kidding yourself. I will ...

dewalt wood eater
I’m a DIY guy and not a professional wood worker. This planer suits my needs perfectly. I did get two, the first had a bad part. Probably a bearing. Lowes was great, switched it out with another. I guess anyone can have a bad part once in a while. I have ran several passes through the second one and works great. I’m planing soft woods, mostly cedar and fir, douglas and white. It eats wood with no issues. I have tried plaining the max amount at a time and it eats away. Yes I did that once to make...
Great Planer
I have used this planer for years in a commercial setting. I also have several heavy duty commercial planers. This one I take on the job site and it works great. I bought this exact one 7 years ago and still runs great to this day. I just bought a second one so i can side plane and face plane without changing the machine settings. I have a 36 inch shop planer and this little dewalt can give it a run for its money. This planer is well worth it. Most of the time I run molding blanks and rails with...
Great Tool
This is my first benchtop planer so I don't have much to compare to. Debated to the point of mental exhaustion about whether to get this or the 735x (or even to save money with a cheaper brand). As I only need it for diy and hobby level projects that I make from rough cut boards I finally decided that I wasn't going to spend the extra money on the 735 but have had great experience with everything else dewalt in my tool collection so I got this and so far I think I made the right decision. The...
