What Customers Are Saying
The mower has a self-propelled function and vertical storage capability, which many find convenient. It is reported to be powerful and efficient, especially for larger yards or hilly terrain. However, some customers have experienced issues with starting, oil leaks, and premature component failure. There are also safety concerns, with a few reports of the mower catching fire. The quality and reliability seem inconsistent, with both positive and negative experiences.

Big Craftsman fan, so went for a Craftsman mower. First year, good. Second year, wouldn't start. Tried starter fluid, new carb jet, new plug, same result. Didn't want to start. Guess lawnmowers go on strike, too. Ended up buying a competitor to replace, so far, so good...
Terrible Mower - Craftsman Service Even Worse
Purchased a Craftsman mower in 2008 with a Briggs and Stratton mower. It runs great. Due to limited space, I gave it to my parents and bought this model in April 2022. What a mistake. First time used in May 2022, I stored it vertically in my shed and days later there was oil on the floor. Oil was changed, didnt take the chance of vertical storage, the reason I bought it - and finished the season, eight mows in total. Fast forward, Memorial Day weekend 2003, I change the oil and off we go. ...
lasted only 4 yrs
i really think its the briggs and stratton engine . Not starting . put in a new carb and nothing.. lasted 4 yrs . I wish they would build a new engine that lasts.. new plug ,filter clean gas .Dont know where the problem lies . and I take care of it after every use. It gets cleaned and wiped down. When this hits the curb they are all going to think its a new machine.. My next machine Im going to let it rot and maybe ill get 10 yrs out of it.
Product bad, but Lowes customer service was worse
When the mower was delivered I could tell it was a return. Not used, but parts missing and previous recipient's name and address inside package. I mowed half my lawn and the grass clippings flew up into my face. I tried to make sure the seal on the mulch bag was tight to no avail. Filled out the return online. Print this return slip and "You're good to go!" Got to Lowes and the girl in Returns said "You need an RA number." I said I don't know what that is but I was told I was good to go. I asked...

From the moment I saw the box, I knew that it would be an issue with this lawnmower. When I picked it up the box was damaged and closed up with tape. I told the person in customer service desk to notate the damaged on the box. Once I got home that's when the problems started. No instructions manual, no oil, and the screws to assemble the handle were missing (box was open on the bottom). After I assembled it watching a YouTube video and improvising the missing screws and adding oil (I had oil in ...

Great mower but get the extended warrenty.
The features with this mower, IE: able to flip up 90 degrees for storage, deck cleaning, blade replacement, as well as never needing an oil change is fantastic, leaving the air cleaner and spark plug replacement as the only maintenance to perform. And it does start with the first pull of the starter rope. The one issue is the very thin and flimsy round locking / unlocking attachment point "between" the steel handle bar and the steel mounting bracket's attached to the mower that allows the handl...

Vertical storage feature is useless
First off, the box when FedEx left it hanging off my strong porch was completely destroyed with wholes in it and all edges basically crushed. Secondly, the nuts and bolts that are used to assemble the handle bar to the vertical adjustment were just loose rolling around in the bottom of the box. Very lucky they didn’t escape through the destroyed box. Third and final issue is that the bar is so warped after it is assembled the vertical adjustment assembly does not function properly. Then the ba...

plenty of features, reliable, and durable
This craftsman lawn mower had everything I was looking for! It has a side discharge, bag, and mulching capabilities but best of all, it folds up and stores vertically. Not only that, it has an adjustable self-propel, using the thumb dial near the handlebar. You can adjust it from slow, to fast, at the twist of the dial. It makes my 1-hour long mow effortless! I also don't have to worry about oil changes - just check it from time to time to make sure the level is at the proper level. Also, there ...
Not what I would describe as "easy to push".
Granted, I'm some scrawny autistic male who's main interests involve sitting in a chair. And to be fair, my sibling said it isn't "that heavy". With that said, I do walk a LOT, so it's not like I'm out of shape. This thing is quite heavy, and the """"self propel"""" might as well not exist as it only makes it SLIGHTLY easier to push down hill. Up hill or on level ground? No effect. Perhaps this has to do with how the cable between the self propel handle and transmission is mounted (Which is to...

I have had many poor experiences with this specific lawnmower. Today, for NO REASON, the mower broke down while I was cutting my grass (it wasn't even high grass and there were no obstructions like sticks in the grass). I go over to the mower to see what happened, and a piece from the side wall type area is laying in the grass. DO NOT BUY THIS MOWER!!! IT IS TERRIBLE!!!
