What Customers Are Saying
The utility knife has a mixed reception, with some customers finding the grip comfortable and retraction easy, but the majority reporting significant issues with the blade mechanism. Many users struggled to change the blades due to an overly complicated design and lack of clear instructions. Several were unable to get the blades to work at all. Overall, the product does not seem to meet expectations for a quality tool from this brand.

I loved the look, grip and slightly angled handle of this utility knife and ignored the fact that a third of the reviewers gave it one star. Well.......the instructions sucked and I ended up with the cutting blade jammed inside the case and can't get it out. Customer service refund here we come. Such a shame.
Unable to change blade.
I had used a Stanley non-retractable utility knife for 40 years but decided to buy a retractable blade knife for safety reasons, so I bought this Craftsman knife. I had to find a YouTube video to learn how to change the blade on this knife and was able to load the blade in the knife initially. At this time I'm unable to get the old blade out by pressing the black button on the side at the front of the handle, even while using a pair of pliers to pull on the blade. I am throwing this utility knif...

Terrible Design
Feels solid but very poor design, no instructions. I replaced the blade via the quick change storage, but it wouldn’t fully retract (useless and dangerous). Do I opened the housing and it is impossible to get it back together. No online videos succeeded for me. Waste of money.

the "Craftsman" name ...?
Will they put their name on anything that comes down the pike these days? If only I could've seen the ratings on this knife before buying it. I didn't go for the cheapest one, but this one looked good. They call the new blade access feature "easy". It was anything but... and destined for failure being plastic. They meager instructions basically "REPEAT" the blade access step when supposedly telling how to insert the new blade. I know, it's not rocket science, but there's a tiny little black butt...

Retractable but hard to change blade
I love that this is retractable to keep it safe in a toolbox but it is tricky to open and change out the blade.

Beyond Junk
I bought this because I liked the rubberized grip and the price. I thought: "How could there be any surprises with a utility knife." Well, I was surprised at how something could be so abysmally bad and still be for sale. This thing should be removed from the shelves; I can't wait to return it and get a functional device.

Average “Good” Quality & Performance
I needed this for my toolkit deep in the forest, off-grid. In other words, it needs to work very well, all the time. It was a little clunky to install the blade, compared to my comparable DeWalt knife. Once assembled, the blade retracted and extended well. When put into use, the supplied blade (it comes with 3) was sharp and of medium duty (not heavy duty). It’s a good medium-duty utility knife.
