Users praise its smooth operation, user-friendly features like variable speed and soft start, and ability to adjust depth from above the router table. I have been using this router for about 10 years for my hobby. It’s been a great tool.

Perfect compliment to my table
I bought this router for a bosch 1171 table. So obviously fit is perfect, the great surprise was learning I can adjust bit height from the top with this combination.

Substandard parts
I’ve used my router four times. The fourth time I used it the spring clamp on the dial adjuster moved out of the slot and marred up the shaft and will no longer stay engaged. It is simply too flimsy and the fixed base is now useless. I see why they only warrant it for one year, it’s just over two and barely used.

Nice router. Lots of features.
I purchased this router after my 30 year old. Raftsman finally gave out. I’m enjoying the upgraded features like variable doors, more power, micro-depth adjustment and 1/4 or 1/2 shank bit compatibility. It didn’t really fit my old Craftsman router table, but I did figure out a way to secure it to the table and use it.

Damaged Router required handwork before using
I purchased this router specifically to use in a Bosch router table. One advantage to using the Bosch router is that the Bosch router has a hex key T-wrench (included) that engages an adjustment rod through a hole in the chassis base, thereby allowing the fine-tuned height of the bit to be done from above the table, as the router is mounted base-up (upside down) under the surface of the table. There is a corresponding hole in the table that allows access to the hole in the router's chassis bas...

Good router for a table
I like that the router can be raised and lowered from the top side of the router table that it is mounted to.

An old friend
I've had this router since 2001. We have made many beautiful things in the past 24 years. I just happened to be reading reviews and thought I would throw in my two cents. It appears that the problems I have experienced are still being seen in the new products. I buy 3 replacement switches at a time. In fact the reason I was looking at reviews is that I was ordering 3 new switches. The part number has changed so I'm hoping Bosch fixed the only issue I have had. You may wonder why I continue to us...

Absolutely my favorite router in the shop
I have three of these in my shop. #1 in a table with prolift from Rockler. #2 in a jig for dados and grooves. #3 in the plunge base for freehand use. the two extra fixed bases are in jig platforms that are used often but not as much as #2. the extra plunge base is used primarily for juice grooves, it is configured to stop tipping when running on the jig. All in all these are long time users and made to last the test of time. I do not use ¼" bits in these, I'm a little heavy handed and bre...

Excellent router
We own 3 of these 1617 routers. One is on our Next Wave CNC machine. Over eight years we have only had to replace twice. These routers cut and run a lot of time they aren’t designed for. The bearings fail and not the electrical side. One tough router. Wish they were brushless.
