The good the bad and the ugly

A dish washer leak damaged some of the 20 year old 2’x4’ Armstrong tile #1135 drop ceiling in our basement. Lowe’s still sells the 1135c which matches, at least good enough for me! This is good, well not the leak part. The only way to get the tile is to order an entire group of 8 tiles as it is no longer in the stores, at least in my area. In the store the perimeter of a group of 8 tiles are wrapped with cardboard. You can examine to see if the group appears to be damaged, which it sometimes...

Received as expected - timely, and in very good condition. Packaging was excellent as edges of panels tend to be sensitive to impact.

Check carefully before buying Armstrong products

Recent purchases of Armstrong ceiling tiles have be of very poor quality, pure junk as a matter of fact, this product was same, product damaged in box, damp, soft, could not even pick up without breaking edges, poor finish too.

Moldy smell

I had to replace some existing Armstrong 1135 tiles so I purchased a new case at Lowes. The quality of the new ones seems less than the ones I installed 10 years ago. The biggest issue is that they have a pretty disgusting smell. It smells less like chemical off gassing than like mold. I don't know if it was simply a bad batch or if they all smell like that. White Tiles

These are very fragile I found some of my boxes with some if not all with brakes in them one box I had to return and get another. The tiles are thinner than the normal ones. They are nice. They replaced my old ones which were a little thicker..

Frustrated

They were an on line only purchase. EVERY tile had at least 1 corner broken. I have 2 open holes in my ceiling still.i chose store pickup because I figured whoever delivered them to the house would toss them on the porch, damaging them worse. Very disappointed

This was a very tough review to write. First off, it is NOT the fault of LOWES that the tiles were damaged in the cases - I blame Armstrong, I purchased 12 cases of tiles from two different Lowes stores. The tiles purchased from the Newark De store had damaged tiles placed in the middle of the case. This was not an accident and was deliberate on Armstrong's part, as they hid tiles in the middle of a sealed case during production. Armstrong drop ceiling tiles

Lowes was able to find my out of stock ceiling tiles. Kudos to them. A Number of the tiles were damaged or With repeating structural defects through the package. I think this was Armstrongs quality issue, but I only needed a few, so its no big deal.

Pleasantly Surprised

We are renovating a lower level family room with a drop ceiling and needed to replace and update all of the ceiling tiles. After reviewing tiles with different designs, material, and prices up to $3 per square foot & higher, we found these which have a nice subtle and updated style compared to our prior tiles and were on sale for only $0.57 psf.
