Cheap, thin, instantly damaged finish

I say this without exaggeration and as a very competent tradesperson -- these are nearly impossible to handle without damaging the black finish. The black is a super thin coating over white cellulose and is increadibly thin and scuffs at the slightest touch, revealing the highly contrasting cellulose below. Have Lowe’s open all cartons and check each tile.

The tile corners were damaged in all three cases. The shipping carton should have more support in the corners. Will have to paint all the tiles. Touch up paint looked terrible.

Great for Drop Ceilings

Don't like that its not stocked in the stores and takes a while to come in. Also to many tiles per box its pretty heavy.

Smell is awful

I purchased these tiles with the hopes of adding a unique look to my basement man cave with a black ceiling. The price was very reasonable and thought this was a perfect solution to having a black drop ceiling. I bought 15 boxes and installed 10 boxes of them. After nearly a month of them being up, the smell of them never went away. I have a 1200 sq ft basement and all you could smell walking down the steps of my basement was these ceiling tiles. There’s a much better alternative

Needed black for home theater ceiling. These came well packed and undamaged. everything destroys the look. Touching leaves marks, dust from the unpainted sides flows over them as you drop them into the grid and brushing it on the grid scrapes the color. Dry & damp wiping makes bigger permanent mess. Had to roller paint with ultra flat black; they now are flatter and blacker. So buy fave white tile & paint, you’ll be glad. See b4 & after pics.

Tiles are consistent in color, a few were damaged in shipping. The local Loews staff handled the situation professionally and made it right. I was thoroughly impressed.

Completely changed media room - look, feel & sound

Great look the black tiles provide in Basement media room! Takes some effort to cut and not get white on the black but once you get the hang of it you are good. Acoustic sound properties are a huge benefit in small space too. These are not hard to hang but it does take time so dont be in a hurry for this project.

Open all boxes in the store in front of employees.

Almost every one of the tiles were damaged on the corners. I could only use four of them. Good thing that's all I needed to complete my ceiling.
