Good performance, but difficult maintenance

I bought this unit 2 years ago. Overall, the unit performs very well and does what it is supposed to do. I give it 5 stars on performance and 1 star on maintenance. I am not a DIY mechanic. The only easy part of the annual maintenance is the oil change and various spring lubrications. It’s apparent to me that the designers of this machine did not consider the ease of maintenance. Austin at the Lewistown, PA Store was awesome!

I had to pick up a snowblower at the Lewistown store and it was already assembled. This made it not fit into my vehicle so the associate, Austin, had to find tools to help disassemble the snowblower until it fit in my vehicle. He also printed out the manuals for me as they were no longer with the product after assembly. He was patient and was able to solve them problem. I worked at Lowes for a short time and a veteran like Austin, so we had something to talk about while doing the retro-fitting.

It's OK, but there are some things that are pretty irritating. First, this thing is loud. Even louder in deep or heavy snow. Get yourself some earmuffs. Second, no throttle lever, so if someone is trying to talk to you, you gotta shut it off. It can be difficult to restart right after. After nursing along an Ariens snowblower that's been in the family since the mid 1960's, it finally gave up the ghost, not unexpectedly. garbage 🗑

Canned gas ONLY! @$32 a gal. Didn't make it to its 4th use bc of the ethanol content in my area (that one was on me) put a new carb, and fuel system in it, and blew the trans on its 6th use. Also sheared the chute pin on its 2nd use (easy fix) but the chute needs to be "babysit" during use.

Used the Ariens Deluxe 24 in Two Stage Gas snow blower for the first time today. It went through about two feet of snow which half of sat for 24 hours because I forgot to fill the gas can (whoops). Loved that it blew the snow away from my working area so that I did not have to move the snow twice. Sent me a rusted outdoor display

I feel bad giving the merchandise a poor review, it’s LOWES that deserves the bad review. I paid full price and received a display model that was outdoors and is loaded with rust. There was NO mention that they were doing this, it just showed up that way, no manual, no registration card. I’ve been a loyal Lowe’s customer, NO MORE.

Honest Review

So, in my opinion, this machine falls short of the quality and R&D expected out of Ariens. Here are the issues I experienced, and that led to its return. 1. This unit has larger tires, and the drive ratio wasn't changed to accommodate this. With the adjustment nut backed off as far as possible, the machine still travels too fast in 1st gear.
