Horrible, stay away from this lock

Kwikset smartcode deadbolt

This is a great product. Took me far longer to install this than it should have because I couldn't believe it was such a simple install. During install the lock was for a right hand opening door out of the box and I was thinking I grabbed the wrong version. Directions didn't really expound on the fact that the lock will detect whether the door is a left or right hand opening door. Product malfunction 2x

I have now had 2 Kwikset 888 Smartcode Electronic devices. I’ll admit my first unit lasted over a year, with no issues for our Airbnb/rental property. This past fall season we noticed the lock mechanism would stick. We’re reviving flags from our guests. It appears the device didn’t have enough power to push the lock to lock/unlock positions. Bad lock and weird company policy

The lock was not responding to the commands. Keypad is hard to press. It is also only designed to work with a home security system not with a smart device over WiFi. Lowe’s still sells it even though Kwikset discontinued it per their website. Therefore you can’t get the master code to program it as standalone. Why would kwikset withhold the code even if it is discontinued? Why not include the code with the lock itself like the competitors do?

Very sturdy deadbolt!

Compatible with Vivint Smarthome!

I connected it to my Vivint smarthome panel with as much ease as having them do it themselves. All I had to do was call them and tell them I wanted to add a new smart lock Z-Wave device and they gave me the installer toolbox code to unlock it in my panel and add it myself. Great quality keyless entry system

I replaced my standard front door deadbolt with this one, & it’s much higher grade and looks nice. I love the SmartKey rekey feature. Missing parts

Bought the 913 dead bolt unopened but it did not include the mounting plate. Drove 20 miles back to Lowes and exchanged it for the same model. Should have checked the parts before driving home. Second unit was missing the same mounting bracket as well as the battery pack holder. Switching brands and taking back the front door model number 917 as well. At over $5 per gallon for fuel as well as over three hours of my time, I’m rather irritated with the products

Does not work at all

I bought the lock to replace a previous kwikset but hoping to connect it too my alexa. After 2 hours of following the directions given on paper and troubleshooting from the web sight the lock did nothing but continuously show a solid red light. I reset it several times as well as the resetting the handing procedure and it still would not move passed a solid red light. Strongly encourage not using this lock. The set up directions are not easy to follow for the automated aspect.

Another level of added security to my home

This lock was fairly easy to install following the instructions. It actually works with or without a smart home hub.
