Good Softener But Don't Trust Drain Line

Great water softener for the cost. Economical on salt use and is ideal for a small household. It's identical to the Water Boss brand. However, DO NOT use the supplied drain line. (inexpensive garbage) It WILL kink, causing a line restriction, then water pressure will blow the line off of the fitting, and empty the contents of the brine tank onto the floor. Some of the customer service rep's were nice and some not I was told a Supervisor would call me I called for 2 days and no Supervisor called. Not Happy!!!

Two years old when brine tank started filling up with water, 3/4" per day! I called customer service and got a real nice guy. He said he knew what the problem was and offered to send the replacement part, but I would have to pay $12.95 freight. OK, good enough. I spent an hour and a half replacing it. Not reliable

I got a bad one from the beginning..AO Smith has decent customer service. They enter the phones and help you troubleshoot. It was a long frustrating process to get it working in the beginning. Quality control issues.

There appears to be quality control issues on these units leaving the factory. I purchased an initial unit and once home and installed, it was leaking at the factory connections (not user connections). Understand that these units are very heavy not easily moved. I cleaned out unit. Disposed of 1 -2 bags of salt in the process. And returned unit to store within 24-48 hours. I purchased another identical unit. Don't have time to keep working on it

Customer service is great to answer the phones. They will send parts to repair it. I have spent literally hours working on this in the beginning. It has worked well for 2 years , Now after 2 years it quit making soft water. AO Smith has once again answered the phone to help trouble shoot it. Started out that I got a lemon. Found out eventually that it had been a return that was messed up. A O Smith has good customer support.
