What Customers Are Saying
The electric saw is lightweight and capable for residential and light-duty tasks. Customers praise its power, ease of use, and quiet operation compared to gas-powered models. The battery life is generally good, though a spare battery may be needed for longer jobs. However, many customers report issues with the saw leaking oil during use or storage, which appears to be a common problem. Some users also had difficulty adjusting the chain tension or getting the automatic oiler to work properly. Overall, the saw works well for small to medium-sized cutting jobs, but the oil leakage is a significant drawback.

My Worx electric chainsaw (I liked it a lot) locked up and I could not get it working so I decided to try this Black and Decker. I already had several other B&D 40 volt tools which worked well so I bought this. Right after it arrived, we had some storm damage to our trees with a lot of downed limbs. I filled up the oil tank and plugged in a battery and, after checking the chain tension, went into action. The saw is pretty light and well balanced. It is also fairly quiet for a chainsaw. I...

Will handle 95% of most needs
First, this wont be a substitute for your heavy duty gasoline saw. That said, I’ve used it to cut up a dozen cords of downed wood under 10” over the past three years and even limb some larger downed trees. Pros: quick to put into use, portable since no spare gas needed, one battery typically will cut up a small hardwood, great value for the money. Cons: not as fast as a gas saw, limited by 12” bar (though very few really large trees anyway).

Saving me a lot of work
I've never operated a chainsaw before, and I'm no spring chicken. While working and caring for my elderly mother for 10 years, the yard got neglected and I've been trying to catch up since she passed. I've been cutting down and cutting up huge bushes and small trees with a handheld pruning saw. When I found this product, I gave it a try. What a difference! It's much quieter than I expected, and it's not too heavy. You do have to watch the oil, as it eats it fairly quickly. Mine also leaks oil, e...
Perfect sized saw for small woman
We are renting a house with a LOT of old dying pine trees interspersed with sweetgums coming up everywhere. When we moved here, English and poison ivy had almost eaten all the trees, which I'm working to eradicate. I don't have the skill or experience to handle the whopper pines, but after watching training videos on YouTube, I've been able to take down a number of the smaller pines and sweetgums myself and buck them into short lengths for use as forest garden edging and hugelkultur materials. T...

Great For What I Needed!
I had several small branches to cut. I didn't want the hastle of mixing gas & oil, so I thought about a battery one. I researched online and found this chainsaw had all the features I wanted. Being this was my first purchase of a battery device, I purchased an additional battery thinking I would need it. I was surprised at how much power this had making easy work of the branches (2 inch to 4 inch size branches I was cutting). I was surprised that I didn't need the other charged battery. This saw...

Excellent chain saw
I have owned this chain saw for over two years. It has worked flawlessly. It is a remarkably strong chain saw. I am amazed by how well it cuts. It has been used to cut down at least 200 small trees and many large limbs. It has not needed repair parts, but I know they are readily available. I have purchase extra chains, because the replacement chains are less expensive than sharpening. B&D and other brand chains are readily available at low prices. This is one of several 40v products th...

Best saw for its price
The people complaining about it leaking oil just need to put less oil in. Make sure you put oil in the saw everytime you use it but only as much as it needs for that session and store it over some cardboard or something. It will be worth it to have a battery powered saw that is far better than the other battery powered saws in the same price range. Only the Stihl battery powered chainsaws are better and they cost twice to three times more.

Exceeded My Expectations
This chainsaw is fantastic for small to medium tasks. Its quiet, its easy to use, and its my go to for most jobs. While the battery life is excellent for small tasks, medium tasks will require a second battery if we want to keep going for any length of time. My experience with this saw has taught me that if I let the tool do the work for me and not force it I had the best luck. It seems to go through a good amount of bar chain oil so just be prepared for that. Keep it full so the motor doesn't h...

Very handy and capable saw
I purchased this chain saw five months ago and was not sure what to expect. I have used it several times and it has performed well...actually better than expected. I have two other B&D yard tools that use 40W batteries so they share the battery and charger. This has not been a problem but I will probably pick up an extra battery just to have a spare. Note that it does use some oil but so did my previous gas powered chain saw. I just keep it on cardboard in the garage. Be sure to use the co...

AWESOME Saw - So Light Yet So Powerful!
This has been one of the BEST outdoor power tools I've ever purchased and that says a lot since I will be turning 61 this month. It is so much easier and quieter to use than a gas chainsaw. I can actually hold it with one hand if necessary. Runtime on one charge is pretty good, but I still need to pick up another battery or two for backup. Chain tension adjustment and replacement are super easy and the self oiler works fantastic!
