  • 2 Bunn 100-pack coffee filters, #151322
  • 1/2" x 4' x 8' Stryofoam, #15348
  • 4-ounce Glue All, #185297
  • Valspar 12-ounce gloss spray paint in Exotic Sea Spray

Instructions

Step 1

Draw a number of your choice on the foam board. Cut out the number using a utility knife.

Step 2

Separate and place the coffee filters over the foam board. Glue them onto the board ruffly side up and open.

Step 3

For additional layers, fold the filters in half, then in half again. Tuck the folded filters into coffee filters that are glued down. Glue these in. Fill in as densely as desired. Creating this "5" took one and a half boxes of filters.

Step 4

Once the glue has dried, take the number outside or to a well-ventilated spot to spray-paint. To create the fade effect, start at the bottom and move up slowly with the spray. Repeat, but this time spray only part of the way up the number. Continue, each time spraying a little less of the number until the desired effect is achieved.

Step 5

Hang the number using tape or 3M Command Medium Picture Hanging Strips and pass out the party hats!
