Ratings & Reviews for Scotch Delicate Surface 0.94-in x 60 Yard(s) Painters Tape
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
What Customers Are Saying
Customers overwhelmingly praise the painter's tape for delivering clean, sharp lines without paint bleed and reliable performance across multiple coats. Many highlight its gentle removal without damaging surfaces, especially on delicate finishes, and note the 60-day residue-free rating. However, some report adhesion issues on older or poorly adhered paint, occasionally pulling off existing finishes. A few mention the higher price point. Despite these concerns, most reviewers consider it an essential tool for professional and DIY painting projects.

Horrible Tape
Would Not RecommendThis tape was horrible from start to finish. At first the tape wouldn’t stick on the walls, then we couldn’t get it off the walls. The paint bled right through the tape EVERYWHERE!!!! Also when we went to take the tape off the walls it took our paint right off the wall with it. It’s a totally worthless product, it saved us no time because now we have to go back over everything.

A great find for this artist!
I have purchased several times. I use it to adhere canvas and thick paper to a wooden panel or firm base for painting . It holds very well and removes beautifully with a crisp edge and no residue left on my picture. I love the colour. It doesn't compete with whatever colours I am using. Another bonus - it is solvent free!

Bad lot number
Would Not RecommendI’ve used this tape before but I believe they have a bad lot. I used it for a high end client in a very nice high rise and it peeled off all of their very expensive wallpaper and paint. I’m now having to replace/ remove and paint and pay for damages done.

Tape removed paint from the bookcase
Would Not RecommendThis tape did not live up to its promise. We specifically chose this to protect the back of the bookcases that we'd painted blue. After weeks of dry time, we taped up the blue edges and painted the trim work white. Days later we went to peel off the purple tape and it removed large areas of the blue, destroying all my hard work!

Wouldn't Recommend Scotch Delicate
Would Not RecommendI didn't look at the poor reviews and thought I'd give Scotch Delicate a try versus the other brand. What a mistake. The tape is extremely thin, which makes it harder to apply. Once painted it allowed leakage, not providing the fine paint line I was expecting and didn't peel off as advertised - not delicate like I was expecting. Very disappointed in this Scotch tape and definitely would not buy it again.

Must Read!!
Would Not RecommendI bought this to do a feature wall with dimensional markings using the tape for the design. Taped up the wall and it looked great. Put two coats of paint on it. I decided to wait two days to make sure the paint dried before I pulled the tape. Directions say you have up to 60 days to remove the tape. I slowly removed it and places of the paint on the wall came off. Not only that, the paint seeped slightly under the tape all throughout the whole project. I even pressed hard on the edges so that it...

2 separate failures in 1 day
Would Not RecommendWe are a residential general contractor. We've used this tape successfully in the past but today with 2 different crews in 2 different cities, we experienced the same tape failure. It pulled off the paint in areas that did not have fresh paint. Is this a bad batch?

Don't use on fine interior plaster!!
Would Not RecommendI had a crew of workers at my house that hung plastic from the ceiling, which is Venetian plaster. There are now visible sticky tape lines on the ceiling. Using Goof Off and other adhesive removers just make it worse, as they thin the adhesive and work them into the pores of the plaster more. Very frustrating and expensive to fix.

Takes paint off walls!
Would Not RecommendMy professionally painted walls looked great - until I tried this tape when painting the trim. The walls were fully cured (2 1/2 months) and the tape was on less than 24 hours. I now have walls that will need serious touch-ups. So frustrated

Does Tape 2080 come in white
Hello Scotch - I am a fine artist who works in watercolor. My painting surface is high-quality (very expensive) watercolor paper. Before I begin a painting, it is necessary for me to mask out the edges of my painting’s composition with masking or some other tape. The problem is that some tapes can remove or even tear the paper while it’s being removed. I am now using your Delicate Surface Painter’s Tape 2080 which eliminates this problem. Does this tape come in white as opposed to pale violet? T...

I used this tape which I’ve used before on walls but this time I used on hardwood floors to keep the brown paper down and it left racing stripes everywhere I used it. Do not I repeat do not use this on floors as it says you can.

More forgiving than classic blue painters tape
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product as a sample to test and finally found a use when repainting my bathroom ceiling. After initially trying blue tape, which removed paint from the surface I intended to shield, this delicate surface tape did what the classic blue tape wouldn't: leave the protected surface ..protected. This leaves my only lingering question: why doesn't the classic blue tape mask and leave intact a simple painted wall surface?

Pulled old paint off the wall
Would Not RecommendThis tape is terrible. I have used it twice and both times it pulled old paint off the wall. It's going in the garbage. Now I have to hope the old paint I have can be used to touch up the area. I want my money back.

Get for delicate artwork, and packing with bubble
Would Recommend[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I I've been using this tape to send delicate items wrapped in bubble wrap. I use this purple tape to seal the bubble wrap closed, and still allow it to be reused. This tape works fantastic for that use. I have also used it to temporarily affix art to my work board, and I never have to worry about ripping the paper as I take things off. It is much better than normal masking tape It has enough adhesive to stick, yet it allows the release of the i...
