Would RecommendI always use this spar urethane for UV protection of our mahogany outside front door. It does a good job of protecting and not degrading over time. It’s not a permanent fix, but it does last longer than any other clear finish solution. There’s not much else you can do to protect natural wood against direct sunlight.

Patience Yields Best Results
Would Recommend6 hours is the minimum drying time for sanding/recoating. I counsel patience. 12 - 24 hours is what I have always followed and never had a problem. I usually apply 5 coats (which may be extreme). The final finish is spectacular, especially after curing for a minimum of 48 hours. If you're in a hurry and don't have the luxury of time use the Minwax water-based varnish. I'm an ol' guy have used spar varnish for the past 30 years and it's never let me down..

High gloss
Would RecommendBest stuff for outdoor or indoor use. Will never peel. My treated wood projects are still outside after six years and still look like new. Usually use eight coats.
