Generator was broken.

The box arrived damaged but the generator looked ok. It didn't work. Lowes policy not to take back. They should take back products that are broken.

Reliable and portable

Used the propane option for fuel. Easy to start and enough power to run my necessities. Easy to store and relocate to wherebI need it. Love it. Best part is...can't get a generators in any store here (all sold out), but Lowes shipped it to my garage!

Do not buy

Literally didn’t work out of the box. Put it all together after lugging it home. Put the proper amount of oil and fuel and the thing would start then die on its own every 30 seconds. Tried propane and gasoline and both did the same thing. Had to return it. Disappointing.

Reliable Power When You Need It Most

I’ve been really happy with this Kobalt 5500 generator so far. I bought it mainly as a backup for power outages, and I really like knowing I have the option to run it on either gas or propane. It has plenty of power for the things I need, and it seems to run for a good amount of time without constantly having to refuel it. Brand new! **already had 17.5 hours on it

such a dishonest sales practice. Purchasing the display model, It didn't come in a box, or with operating manual, or any warranty / registration info. It actually had been used for 17.5 hours & returned , then sold to me as "brand new". The young man that helped me was great so I'm sure he had no knowledge of this.

Easy to usr

We bought this generator during the recent Livingston County power outage. It saved a refrigerator and freezer full of food and kept our devices charged!

We had a power outage in Detroit and Lowe's wasn't sold out delivered next day early morning. The delivery team didn't even leave me they rang my door bell it was extremely early. I thanked them for not leaving me and waiting until I got to the door. He was so caring he had to have known our situation im sure more families were buying from our area. I kept apologizing and thanking him he was so nice. Made my morning because I had no power for 5 days and I couldn't take it no more had to buy on...

Good power for decent price

Very easy to set up and get running within 15 minutes. System was able to power fridge, swamp cooler, TV entertainment system and many lights and small accessories around the house during power outage. I also use it for remote site construction projects powering saws, blowers, vacuums, etc. So far very happy with this unit. So far have only used gas for fuel. Have not had opportunity to use propane yet.

Its ok

So I was happy to discover that Lowe’s had a 6000 W generator that was even set up for dual fuel for less than $600. But to my surprise, the two standard sets of household outlets are equipped with GFI and there’s a 20 amp breaker for each one including a breaker for all the electric. It just seems to me that it’s overkill because anytime you put a load on the GFI outlets with an actual tool that requires that kind of an outlet—they trip. The gasoline works way better than the propane

It's a pretty good little generator however, the propane is not have the strength that the gasoline does. So while you can use propane it will not power everything that the gasoline will

Died after 10 hrs

Purchased this a year ago (almost to the date) after storms took out our electricity. It worked and ran great. Needed it this week and it started great. I turned it off and waited 2 mins before adding fuel as directed, but it would not start again. Only had 10.2 hours on it. Food spoiled and basement flooded. Only reason for the 2nd star was how quick and easy the return process was after the call center overseas opened up.

Good and bad

Easy to set up and had it running in about 15 minutes. I watched a quick video on the dos and don’ts before starting, which I would definitely recommend. The Lowe’s employee also emphasized reading the directions or watching a video first and clearly explained the 48-hour return policy, which made me a little nervous.
