What Customers Are Saying
The Kobalt PVC cutter is a sturdy and effective tool for cutting various pipe materials, including PVC, CPVC, and PEX. Users report that it makes clean and straight cuts with ease, thanks to its sharp blade and ratcheting mechanism. The tool is particularly helpful for those with weaker hand strength. Some minor issues were noted, such as the blade occasionally cracking or crushing the pipe, and the lock mechanism being too easily disengaged. Overall, the cutter is considered a high-quality and convenient tool for DIY plumbing and home improvement projects.

Would RecommendThis cutter has served me well in the installation of PVC Schedule 40 vent piping and in cutting PEX-A water pipe for the tankless water heater I installed. The 2" PVC pipe does require good hand strength, but I was able to make square accurate cuts as needed. Well worth the purchase.
Not good.
Would Not Recommendoverall not a good tool or Kobalt product. Doesn't cut well or straight. and the handles don't stay together cuz the lame hook/latch doesn't stay together. I wish i would've gone with a different brand to replace my old one. bummer. Got this one and the 1-1/4 and don't like either. I would NOT recommend. :-(
PVC cutters fell apart after a few months
Won’t cut 2 in pvc
Would Not RecommendDidn’t come close to cutting 2 inch pvc and the blade bent in the attenpt
Waste of money
Would Not RecommendCuts schedule 40 at an angle and shatters thinner pipe no matter how slow you go. Will be returned asap.
Used to be a decent product
Would Not RecommendOur first set lasted for a year. We cut a lot of schedule 40 and some schedule 80 conduit with it. On small pipe the cut was decent, 1.5" and larger it would walk and cut wasn't square. Replaced the blade with the Kobalt one and it didn't last a day. The blade bent cutting 1" sch 40 conduit. I bent it back with my bare hands...I mean it made a 50+ year old guy feel like He-Man but what a piece of junk.
Dangerous tool
Would Not RecommendThe clip that holds the handle shut is easily popped loose, allowing the levers to pop open, exposing the extremely sharp blades to fingers and hands. When placed in a tool bag, this happened to me three or four times. I am returning this tool.
awful
Would Not Recommendim not sure why but this thing compared to others sucks everything i have is kobalt but this was trash

Fragile
Would Not RecommendThis cutter does fine on small, thin PVC. I tried it on some 2" PVC conduit and it would never cut straight; the blade deflects if you have to apply a lot of pressure. After a few cuts on 2" conduit, the blade dulled to the point that it wouldn't cut all the way through. I also noticed a large chip had broken out of the blade. This seems to be the result of the ratchet mechanism, which slams the blade into the aluminum frame when you release it.
Great
Would RecommendGreat tool
Would RecommendThis tool cuts PVC pipe so easy.
Great, cuts like butter
Would RecommendI like that it waa easy to cit through the pvc pipe. The handles fit int he hand nicely. To use the cutter, no stress is put on the hand and fingers, so when cutting a lot of pipe, the hand isnt fatifued. Though this doesnt affect the quality of the cutter, when opening it to squeeze, it must be all the way opened before squeezing, otherwise it wont engage. It would be nice to have more settings for the cutter to engage instead of having to open it all the way up every time.
Works well at first, then after intermittent use for around 6 months it will fail. This is my 3rd return / replace. I bought because they advertise life-time warranty. Back to the store to replace again.... I am wondering if a battery operated unit will be better.
Trash!
Would Not RecommendDo not buy. Ratchet function slips and hurts your hand..

Garbage tool
Would Not RecommendWhen it does cut it isn't straight. Even on brand new pipe if you need to cut a small piece it cracks and shatters the pipe. Waste of money. We pulled our old cutter out of storage and the difference was night and day. Old cutter was an Irwin and cut clean and straight on the same piece of pipe.
Does what it is supposed to
Would Not RecommendIt does what it needs to. My disappointment is the clasp that holds the handles together. There might as not even be one there. It is a poorly designed clasp. It does not work or stay in place to hold the handles together for storage. I currently use a zip tie to hold it together when this is not in use.

Crushed older PVC
Would Not RecommendThese did not work for me. My CPVC is old and just cracked when I tried to cut it. I returned it and purchased one of the C shaped cutters that worked well.
Quality tool
Would RecommendEasy to use works like a charm
