Took it to Alaska for a 10 day hunt and it worked great. I was able to send and receive messages via the app, get weather reports and best of all only had to recharge the battery once for the entire trip.

Safe Feeling
Bought this for a backpacking trip to West Virginia. The intent was to make my wife feel that I was safe and that I could communicate with her. It did that. However, there was a lot of time where it would not connect, saying I had to get to an open area. At times, that might be miles or very difficult to do. I just expected more although I understand the limitations.

Highly recommended
Awesome device. Not the simplest to use, but the learning curve isn’t too difficult. Worth every penny.

Not enough battery
I found that the battery doesn't last as long as expected. I feel I have to carry an extra battery when out for more than a day.

Great tool but has lots of costs.
I'm giving this 4 stars since the device seems to do it's job very well. But it's a high upfront cost and requires multiple subscriptions. I also feel that for all of the hikes I've done so far, it really wasn't needed, more of a nice to monitor your course. I also feel that the SOS button is nice but I'd be reluctant to ever use. Think possible cost impacts and starting some events that you might regret.

Essential Gear
Just used my Inreach Mini2 in the back country of the Wind River Range for 10 days of backpacking. I was waiting for important news from family so the message function helped keep me updated. I was glad for the security of the SOS feature knowing we were doing some really technical bouldering. The weather feature warned us of a starting wildfire nearby and let us know the smoke outlook. Totally worth the investment!

Great Rugged decice.
Ive used the mini2 for over a month. Overall its a pretty rugged backup nav and emergency contact device. I hike, backpack and kayak. I like the overall user interface. I think the messaging could be easier to navigate and send, feels like too many clicks to send a preset message. The nav/breadcrumb trail are nice. I do appreciate the tiered plans. I'm not going on expeditions so the basic plan works well so far. Battery life is really good too.

I bought it for the SOS feature.
I haven't used it much, but so far I love I love my Mini 2.

As expected!
The Inreach did exactly what we expected and it worked well being able to communicate when needed from the backcountry.

Needs more instructions
Used this for the first time in Maine’s 100 mile wilderness. The batttery ran down to 25% in two days. I charged it to 57% and by morning it was was dead. Another hiker told me later to turn it off at night, especially if staying in a shelter. I wish Garmin provided clearer and more detailed information and instructions on managing battery life. I thought the battery life was up to 14 days depending on tracking but I found no information on how to set tracking to maximize battery life.

Great product. Great value!
I've not had mine long but so far I love it. I live in an area and cell service is spotty. It was easy to use right from the start. I have had no issues letting my family know where I am and how I'm doing.

Very happy with the Mini 2
I bought this for fishing offshore and am very glad I made the decision to buy it. It gives me the ability to connect with friends and family to update them or let them know if my return time has changed. Definitely gives some piece of mind knowing I'm still a text away when outside of cell range. Sometimes there has been a little delay but nothing longer than advertised.

So far the inreach works great! I haven't had to use it much but I worked great when I did!

Worked just fine in the backcountry
Worked great paired with my iPhone and the garmin messenger and explore apps. Spent a week in the backcountry of Idaho, no issues came up with this in reach. My buddy had the newer, mini 3 and this did just the same as his.

To activate and use Garmin has been very bad. The instructions are lacking. I bought 2 one for m and one for a frind and we both are fairly knowlegable with these types of devices having used SPOT and our APPLE PHONES. The Garmin we are still working on how it works. Something this important should be so much easier to set up and to use. The instructions for set up challenging and how it actually works is non existant. Very disappointed

Outstanding product!
I bought this for a 6 day canoe trip through the remote bush in Ontario. It worked exactly as advertised. When you have the Garmin Messenger and Explore apps on your phone its very easy to connect with the Inreach and type messages faster or look at the map better. Battery life was great. Feels like a rugged device.

Works great so far
I’ve had my mini 2 for a few weeks now and have been testing it out around the home. Haven’t had a chance to get into the outback yet. However I have used it to message with a friend who was on his 3+ and everything worked flawlessly. I have used it both outside and in the house. Connectivity has been very good with no lost messages. Looking forward to using it outside of cell service to see how well the messaging holds up

Incredible peace of mind
Got this a month ago because I do a lot of solo hiking and paddling with spotty cell service, and the peace of mind it gives me is indescribable. My family is also happy that they can keep tabs on me when I’m out in the wild even if they’re in the other side of the country.
