Bought this DWE6423 to replace a Makita RO that finally blew up enough to not warrant replacement . Used it to smooth out a custom mantle for a new fireplace and to do some sanding on a piece of equipment I'm restoring in my shop. It *might* have 10 hours on it. Replacement Pad is Junk

The backing pad replacement part is junk. Original last a decent amout of time, the Dewalt replacement part lasted two uses! The 4 screws just pull thru the holes! It need to be stronger or metal instead of plastic. Just junk.

Sander is busted

Just like everyone one else on here my pad broke off my sander. I don't use this a whole lot so I wouldn't expect it to not last that long. Is there anyway you can ship a new part out. Thank you.

Very disappointed, not what I expect from Dewalt.

I bought this Dewalt DWE6423 about 3 years ago and have used it several times since then. Today I started to use it and the foam backing completely came apart off of the sander. I cannot use it as it is now and don't know where to by a replacement 5" 8 hole sanding pad replacement. I have almost exclusively Dewalt power tools and am very disappointed in this item. I can't complete my project without the sander,

DeWalt Sander Part Fails

I bought this replacement part for my DeWalt Random Orbit Palm Sander. I installed it but after 5 minutes of sanding the plastic softened and the pad disconnected from the sander. I've contacted DeWalt for resolution but none of the "causes" for this failure seem applicable.

K & L Renovations

We renovate historic homes and own many DeWalt tools and products most of which we have had good service from. Although we have owned the sanders for a couple of years we have only used them for a few hours. Haven’t even used this sander and it’s falling apart. Now I’m gonna have to buy another attachment when it’s just poor quality built. Very disappointed in Dewalt

Very disappointed in Dewalt. I was able to get several years of use out of the OEM pad and I replaced it with a genuine pad once. The first replacement lasted until the foam disintegrated. My husband used the sander today for the project being careful not to press into the sander itself but the pad still last more than a few hours. We are buying a whole new sander because we've already about spent the original cost of this sander with "genuine" parts and still can't get it into working condition...

Sanding pad backer is terrible and DANGEROUS

Same as everyone else. Backer on the pad blasted into orbit when the unreinforced bolt holes broke out. Almost hit my kid. Shopping for another brand to switch to...

Replacement pad died in 20 minutes.

Original pad worked for about five years, and only died because the foam backing disintegrated. New Dewalt branded replacement spun off the machine after the first 20 minutes of use because the fiberglass backing that screws to the machine stripped out. Too bad… sander was ok otherwise.

Disappointed

I thought the orbital sander would be a great tool but the pad shredded right off. I have many Dewalt tools and am sad to report the pad on this sander is defective and does not last.

Defective

Have only used this a handful of times and it flew off in the middle of a project. Looking at these reviews, it seems to be a very common problem which leads me to believe it’s just a defective product.

Lowe's Great Support for DeWalt Tools

The best palm sander is nothing without this product. I was glad that the DeWalt website provided Lowe's as a source for acquiring it.

I would recommend running it for an hour and check

Worst product Dewalt could produce!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a disgrace that a top of the line tool company even sells this. My sander no longer works bc this part failed on my sander right after my warranty expired. Thinking about changing to Milwakee after this happened.

Hook and Loop Pad for 5 inch Grinder

The pad lasted a few seconds into the second time I used it and then the plastic screw holes broke. An employee at one of the Lowes Stores helped me find this online as they did not carry the pad in the store. It was either the wrong pad or where ever they are producing replacement parts are using very cheap materials.
