can you use lite bulb in enclosed lite fixture/not recessed

Depends on how small the enclosure is. LED bulbs put out very little heat compared to an incandescent bulb, but they are also much, much more vulnerable to failure due to heat (which is why they have "heat sink type fins on many of them). This means if there is not enough room to dissipate the small amount of heat given off, then this will shorten the life of the bulb.

LED bulbs are not recommended for enclosed fixtures, but they do not get as warm as traditional lights.

yes you can use in enclosed light fixtures. And they are dimmable.

It produces less heat than an incandescent, so yes. As long as it is water proof, the bulb should be fine. High humidity may shorten its 28 year life, but not by a significantly noticeable amount. See my review on the bulb regarding light dispersion though.

Yes. In my particular case, we have a Hunter ceiling fan that accommodates a single incandescent bulb within a covered glass dome. Every CFL I've tried has been too long and will not allow the dome to be installed. This LED bulb's physical size is equivalent to a 40-60 Watt incandescent light bulb and fits perfectly! Better yet, it works well with a dimmer. I've been pleasantly impressed by these bulbs.

The packaging suggest not to use this light in a completely enclosed light fixture. I guess LED lights are more sensitive to overheating than incandescent or CFL light bulbs. Using LED lights in an enclosed light fixture will most likely noticeably reduce the overall life span of the bulb, in addition to invalidating the warranty.

It says in the packaging"Do not use in recessed or enclosed fixtures" hope that answers the question.
