what material can I use to insulate within 2" of this 8"chimney pipe that will not burn?


You can get a "high temp" insulation from many stores that sell wood stoves. Regular insulation is not wanted due to chance of exposure to high temps. Binders in regular house insulation are no good at 250 degrees f or higher
