the ceiling grid opening is 2'x2'. What size duct attaches to the back of the diffuser?

The duct size is 8-in.

Was this Answer Helpful ?This one has 8 inch round connection on back for 8 inch round duct or flex duct- you can get galvanized reducer from 6" to 8" or 10" to 8" as needed. if Lowes does not sell many of these it is because it is hard to find- not listed with rest of hvac vents- and the important size info is not given-they are aware of this- but no one apparently has the authority to correct a web site description of a product. Otherwise it is a good price.
Was this Answer Helpful ?Ductwork does not attach to a diffuser. You'd never be able to get it out of the ceiling without going to the attic. There is an additional part called a "boot." It is a square opening that is molded into the duct size you need. That boot attaches to the frame of the opening. Then you can secure the ductwork, seal the joints and insulate. The diffuser screws into the boot from inside the room below. Boot ducts come in many sizes and you can also get an adapter for different size duct pipe. Check with the plumbing associates at Lowe's for a quick demo.
