How many mils thick is the wear layer? I.e. the surface can take a scratch as deep as 20 mils before you see theough the surface color.

The industry standard for rating floor durability is determined by AC (Abrasion Coefficient) testing. AC rating is a 1-5 rating that indicates a laminate floor's durability. The rating is performed by an independent company, and all reputable manufacturers use this rating for their laminate floors. Levels AC4 and AC5 are appropriate for commercial use, while AC1 through AC3 are residential. The QuickStep Studio+ Restoration Oak Embossed Wood Plank laminate has an AC rating of 4, so it is very durable for residential use.
