We have ordered this flooring for our basement. The salesman said we did not need to buy any underlayment to cover the cement floor?

You should put an underlayment over concrete even if there is an attached pad. I used QuietWalk under flooring in a concrete basement. Good stuff.
Was this Answer Helpful ?The person(s) that said an underlayment is not needed is not quite correct. The attached pad does not have a built-in vapor barrier so a separate 6mm plastic sheeting is needed over concrete floors or an unheated space such as a crawl space. If you want extra thermal and acoustic insulation you may add the Pergo Gold underlayment, which has a built-in vapor barrier. None of the other stock underlayments are approved for adding to a product which has an attached underlayment.
Was this Answer Helpful ?You still have to put a vapor barrier (poly film) under the floor when installing it over concrete. The installation instructions specify the details.
