Does this product make that hollow sound when walking on it like other laminates?

For our installation over a concrete slab with premium vapor barrier recommended and all installed by Lowes. our floor was initially very quiet. But within about 6 months it began making sounds with every step. We are not happy with the noise it makes as we were told by Lowes that it would be virtually silent. Folks that come to our home notice it right away and you can see them sometimes look down at their feet as if they stepped on something and broke it. That being said, we have heard "cheaper sounding" floors than ours but they were cheap to begin with. We believe our product may be defective and/or the labor crew that installed it. We are going to contact Lowes about them warrantying it because it is getting worse and is annoying and embarrassing. In addition, they repeatedly pushed this brand on us...we had never heard or seen this brand before.

I put this flooring in the basement over a concrete slab and have the same problem in some areas. I think the sound problem would be minimal over a perfectly level surface, but that would be nearly impossible over a slab. If you want to get away from the hollow sound, there is nothing better than 3/4 solid tongue and groove hardwood flooring in my opinion. Still the laminate is a great alternative.

It dose not have pad attached to the flooring. However we purchased a good quality underlayment and it helped with the sound.
