Can you lock these in backwards to change direction if you don't want ugly T-moldings at hallways and entryways to keep the flow in open floor plans.

We built a custom home on the coast of SC, with lots of heat, cold & humidity. We selected these floors for the A4 rating as we have lots of sand & 3 dogs. We couldn't be more pleased after 2 years. As to the transitions- our contract/builder installed these & has used this flooring for years in over 35+ homes in our area. He has never used transitions unless going from this tile, carpet, stairs, etc. & has had zero issues from owners, including us. Our home is open concept & split bedroom. We have this everywhere including the kitchen. It's a beautiful floor & gives us exactly what we we hoped for. While it's an easy DIY floor to install, I would recommend a reputable pro. We clean with a rubber broom, microfiber mop & water with small amount of white vinegar 1x mo. Don't let water stand. Love this flooring!

I know this is old and has been answered but for the new people wondering. I ran this flooring throughout my whole main section of the house about 900-1100 sqft I would say. I ran this laminate throughout my whole house with not one transition. As I read now that I might have voided warranty but I didnt know and wanted the look of no transition pieces from room to room etc. On top of me not having any transitions from room to room I ran this laminate at 45 degree angle to give it even greater character. I must say it looks fantastic.

No. You will need to install a t-moulding in areas that are larger than the recommended size. Remember, a laminate floor is like the continents on the planet. If one part of the floor is expanding in a specific direction and the other part of the floor wants to expand in the direction of the other floor, the floor will buckle and voids your warranty.

I just laid 1000 sq ft of this flooring and did not need to use transitions strips between 4 rooms. Not sure why you would need to change directions but to answer your question; No, the tongue is wider on one side.

these only interlock one direction. they interlock at a 90 degree angle to each other in one direction as well. putting them in backward either leaves a 1/4" gap or raises one piece higher than the other. however, i learned a little trick for this very issue: score and remove the tongue and groove for both sides you want to put together, and glue them both down next to each other. after you finish nailing down the molding, no one will ever know the difference

Only if you want to void any and all of your warranties, plus risk your floor buckling. T moldings are used in hallways and room transitions to allow for an expansion gap in that space. If there is no expansion gap and no transition, you void your product warranties. With natural flux in humidity and temperature, your flooring will expand and contract. Without room to expand, your flooring will buckle. All in all, I advise against it.
