Was this Answer Helpful ?You can buy a light box to adhere to your ceiling if you are simply seeing hanging wires when you remove the existing fixture. Lowes has something called a Ceiling Fan Pan Box made by Carlon for $3.46. It is used for ceiling fans and fixtures support. Made of hard plastic, it is thin, lightweight and will hold a fixture weight up to 50lbs. It includes screws and everything. I had to purchase this to mount to a porch covered with vinyl siding so that the light fixture would have something to attach to (the screws are long enough to pierce the wooden surface beyond the vinyl). Worked like a charm. I had to make an additional trip to Lowes for this, so I'm trying to save you the trouble.
