So lets say this fire pit is placed on a solid surface (not on soil) how would it drain when it rains?

I would think it would get way to hot to be on top of a composite deck even with steel plate. You would be better off with a propane firepit.

I would seal the first row of blocks because I don't want it draining on the deck. I would drill a few holes through the steel and decking for drainage. Do you think this would work? Any suggestions for improvement would be appreciated. Thank you.

Was this Answer Helpful ?The blocks do not make a water tight fit between each, so water would have no problem draining.
Was this Answer Helpful ?The stones don't form an exact, perfect seal when they are put together so you shouldn't have any issues with drainage. Also remember, the rocks will absorb some of the water too.
