I was wondering what "water-wise" means when listing specifications of trees

Water Wise means the plant will need frequent watering until established. When established the plant will be able to tolerate periods of low water conditions. Some plants will establish deep root systems that penetrate the water table. Others simply establish a large enough root system to draw sufficient moisture from the existing soil.
