freezing temperatures hurt all batteries
Was this Answer Helpful ?Normal, lived-in house temperatures are generally recommended, however here are a two tips that will extend your battery life: 1. Temperatures in the 40-50 degree F range is better, especially for long-term storage. 2. For long-term storage, be sure that your battery is partially discharged, about 30%, before storing. Storing a fully charged battery will shorten the life of the battery. I hope that this helps you and that you will enjoy your cordless tools. I am slowly building my inventory of 24-V, 40-V, and 80-V Kobalt cordless tools as I replace my older 18-Volt Black and Yellow models.
Was this Answer Helpful ?The manual that came with my batteries states "Do not store the battery in sunlight, in an excessively warm place, or near a furnace..." it recommends the battery be stored at "normal room temperatures" if not being used for periods of 3 months or more. The manual doesn't mention anything about cold temps or what effect freezing temps may have on the battery.
