Can this primer be used on exterior wood siding?


This would be a good choice for what you have described, hopefully none of the 'old' paint was not lead based, but that's another tale.

Hello and thank you for your inquiry. KILZ® Original is designed for interior use. For exterior, we recommend KILZ COMPLETE®. KILZ COMPLETE® is very good for blocking/sealing tannin, so this is actually the right primer in our product line to use for this situation. If after the first coat is dry and some tannin still bleeds through, a second coat may be needed. As with all wood bleed, sometimes there is more intense leaching and more than one coat may be needed. Be sure to follow all back label instructions and best of luck on your project.
