10-in 15-Amp Compound Miter Saw

Hitachi 10-in 15-Amp Compound Miter Saw

can this saw cut metal, i.e. 2x2 square tubing or angle iron with the proper blade?

Ok, not the first time , i have heard this question . Several reasons you dont want to do this . First of all , this saw is not designed to cut metal . If you do , it will get in the bearings in the interior of the saw , greatly shortning the life of the saw . Lowe's sell a nice verity of chop saws , for under $200.00 . Be smart , use the right tool for the right job .

When cutting metal you should buy a Chop Saw it is a better design. Hitachi makes one around the same price range. Hefty 15 amp (2000W) motor produces a no-load speed of 3800 RPM for greater cutting efficiency Chute off back of saw diverts sparks and can be angled to suit the workspace Adjustable fence is easy to use and miters 45 degrees to the right or left for versatility To answer your question: its possible but would not recommended it. This saw is designed for wood cutting.

This is a wood saw.

This saw is made for wood. You might get by cutting aluminum on a limited basis with the proper blade and some wax lube but I WOULD NOT recommend cutting steel with it. Buy a cop saw that will accept or comes with and abrasive blade. Wear good quality safety glasses when cutting.
