Will it drill into plaster? I need to hang pictures and a regular drill does not work

It will drill into plaster, I use it to hang drywall. You have to use the right screws. Or try starting the whole with a nail before you try to drive the screw. But any drill should drill through plaster unless it is plaster over concrete like cender block then you need a masonry bit no matter what drill you use and in that case a hammer drill would work better.

Was this Answer Helpful ?it's not the drill it's the bit use a carbide bit I have 1" thick plaster in my home and the normal bits just don't last if it's masonry your drilling through you'll need a hammer drill its a different kind of drill I used when I studded my basement out

Was this Answer Helpful ?There is enough torque with DeWalt's DCD790D2 drill to drill into plaster. The important factor is to use the correct bit to cut away the plaster and then use a rotary file or some other metal cutting tool to cut the metal mesh behind the plaster. It also depends on how big of a hole is needed to be drilled. Start by cutting through the plaster slowly. You may find where the hole is, the metal mesh behind the plaster isn't a factor at all.
