Yes these work just fine on vinyl deck posts. They should fit just fine on your 4x4 covered post.
Was this Answer Helpful ?These lights come with spacer adapters in the base. I believe they will fit over a raw 4x4 pretty well. The instructions say to glue them on but I drilled holes and used stainless steel screws to mount them so I can easily remove them later if necessary.
