Use any AA rechargeable batteries. How long they last depends on climate and environmental factors. On average, they last between 1 and 2 years.

This is a standard small equipment battery (part numbers vary) which can be purchased at any local mower shop, sears, or parts store. Life expectancy is 3 to 5 years depending on frequency of use (more the better to keep battery fully charged) Use of a "Battery Tender" recommended during long winter storage months or prolonged periods of non use.

Any manufacturer's AA rechargeable batteries. Life expectancy has a lot to do with environmental factors. I have had rechargeables used indoors last for 5 or 6 years where outdoors in a cold climate last only a couple.
