Why is an outdoor post cap /light not made to be water repellent?


It should be water repellent. Just make sure water doesn't get into the battery compartment.

It is waterproof from above and the sides, but not underneath. As long as you don't spray up into it with a hose, it won't get water in it, but will get dust and small bugs/spiders if left long enough. Easy to twist the top off and wipe out, though - like you would have to do with any outdoor light.
