How do these lights get activated?

Twist the top of the cap an 1/8-th of a turn and pull off. Remove the strip of paper from the rechargeable battery compartment. Put the top back on. Install it onto your post, charge it up in the sun for 24 hours, and that is all it takes.
Was this Answer Helpful ?These lights get turned on by a photocell at dusk. Don't waste your money on these….they are junk and fill up with rain water…shortly after that they fail.

Was this Answer Helpful ?You have to charge the batteries first. Put the batteries in and set the lights in direct sunlight during the day. Take the batteries out before it gets dark. Do this for three days and the batteries should be fully charged. If that doesn't do the trick, then you have bad batteries or bad electronics. Return them.

When it detects an absence of visible light, it completes the circuit connecting the battery to the LED light. The light will shine until the rechargeable battery is discharged or a presence of light is detected by the photoresistor. Daytime sunlight charges the battery.
