What is the recommended drill bit size for the pilot hole?


Usually no pilot for these are needed but if driving into the end of the board, like when laying down 5/4 and butting board ends, i can see where it might split, id go no bigger than 1/8 inch diameter, but only the decking, not the joists

Hi and thank you for your inquiry. There is no need to drill a pilot hole, but if you choose make sure you only drill the top deck board and not the joist.
