Does the incoming mail automatically lock after the mailman puts it in or does the mailman need a key

Hello, the mail carrier does not need a key to deliver mail and will use the upper hopper door to deliver the mail. Once he closes the door, the mail drops to the bottom locked portion of the large mailbox, where only you will have access to by using the key to unlock the door. Thanks for reaching out!
