Water & the floor

Depends on how much water will be sitting on it and for how long. Laminate flooring is a photo copy of wood flooring pasted on the board. They has a couple layers of a protective film on it. Some laminate floorings can handle it, some can't. Its not a specific brand. My mother has Pergo and large amounts of water have sat on it for quite some time and she has had that flooring for years. It still looks brand new. Another person I know had a much more expensive pergo and after water got on it and sat for a long time. That part of the floor crumbled. I have this flooring and it has held up great with my dogs splashing water out of their bowls. A family member of mine has another Allen and Roth color and hers crumbled just like the one Pergo. So it just depends. Just do you homework and check all the reviews of these floors. That's what I did and I am very happy with this floor.
Was this Answer Helpful ?I would avoid water on any laminate floor where possible. I have three dogs with beards that drip all the time and I wouldn't dare think to put this down anywhere where water could sit on it for any amount of time. Just too much risk if a board swells and you have to take the floor apart to replace boards.

However, water that drops on the seams may wick into the joint and reach the softer part of the plank beneath which would swell over time. Recommend protecting the planks directly beneath the dog's water dish or maybe place the dish in another location if possible. General drool may not be a problem, unless it is excessive. Good Luck and Happy Holidays!
