I have a 20 amp transfer switch installed and would like to connect this generator to it but afraid the 5500 running watts may be too much. Concern?


Correct, the generators output ratings should never exceed the transfer switch's amperage rating. As the RS5500 features a rated VAC amperage of 45.8 amps at 120V and 22.9 amps at 240V, we would not recommend attempting to use a 20 amp transfer switch in a configuration including the RS5500. To ensure you are using the right transfer switch for your needs and local code requirements, we would recommend working with a certified electrician in your local area.
