With the right plumbing tools and equipment, you can replace leaky sink
pipes or even install a brand new toilet. Cutting new drain pipes is easier
with a PVC cutter. Choose a ratcheting cutter to make cutting pipe effortless.
Join together pipes and fittings with the appropriate plumbing primer and
cement to prevent leaks.
Use a deburring tool to smooth the edges of freshly cut pipes before
installing them. There are specific plumbing tools and wrenches for replacing
drains and faucets. For loosening and tightening hard-to-reach nuts on faucets
and toilets, use a basin wrench. If you need to install or replace a tub drain,
a drain plug wrench will make the job much simpler.
Use a toilet jack to help with replacing a toilet. These jacks make
maneuvering a heavy toilet easier and safer. You'll need a new wax ring and you
may need to replace the flange. For step-by-step help, see our guide — How to
Replace a Toilet.
