Screws for Every Project, From Decks to Drywall Installation
As important as it is to have the right tool, you'll also need the right screw when completing masonry, deck and home projects like drywall installation. Screws are made to work with a number of different surfaces. You can avoid a last-minute trip to the store mid repair by keeping a box of multi-material screws in your toolbox.
For any masonry project, concrete screws come with long-lasting corrosion protection. Some are self-tapping, which allows you to avoid pre-drilling a hole prior to installation. Others require masonry anchors so be sure to read the instructions. Wood, sheet metal and drywall screws have varying pitch sizes designed to work with the material they're being used for and shouldn't be interchanged.
The head of the screw should also be taken into consideration prior to purchasing. Some screw heads, like those on a flathead screw, are designed to rest flush with a surface while other screw heads might be curved for decorative reasons. See our Screws Buying Guide for everything you need to know about screws and their uses.
