Plastic and Steel Chain by the Foot
Stainless steel cable is used in deck railings, towing, winches and garage doors among other general utility uses. Stainless steel provides excellent corrosion resistance, making it a good choice for areas that are regularly exposed to the elements.
Zinc-plated and galvanized steel chain can be used for tying down cargo, pulling out stumps and other standard applications. It's not meant for overhead lifting. Cable can be purchased by the foot so you never have to buy more than needed. When purchasing any steel chain or cable, always follow the safe working load (SWL) limits included on the packaging. Steel chains are sold in varying link sizes and coordinating with connection hardware that's sold separately.
In landscaping like flower bed borders, gardens and driveways, a plastic chain suspending a planter can add a pop of color and personality to your yard. Plastic chain links are sold by the foot in colors like yellow, red, green and white. Keep in mind that plastic chain is strictly ornamental and not meant for load-carrying purposes.
