I used for a tile surround on my fireplace, and all that was needed to be done was to clean it with soap and water and apply a couple of coats and it looked perfect.
I use it on EVERYTHING
I bought three cans for my daughters bedroom wall thinking I would need that much because of the size of the cans. I literally barely used half A CAN for that project, leaving me with 2.5 cans. I used some to paint the top of a dresser for a coffee bar, gorgeous, my STAIR treads,, my landing, and I began to paint my kitchen cabinets and finally I need more. I am OBSESSED with this paint, it looks great oN EVERYTHING.

Looks and works great. The only downside is it absorbs the chalk a little more than a regular chalkboard but a wet rag cleans it up

Paints clean to the wall. Have not tested it out using actual chalk yet. Hopefully it works well.

Chalk Markers....
Regarding your Valspar Black Chalkboard Paint.....It would be nice you guys put an warning label in the can or inform your retailer that you "shouldn't use chalk markers on this since they are made for REAL CHALKBOARD". As stated in a previews review 2yrs ago. Tried to clean off but still see then old lettering. Be honest now I have to resurface and tape to reply the chalk paint and do this again and use regular chalk. Something that we did not want to use.

Applies on thick, yet a few coats needed if covering over light colors. Has a black-blue tint a first when wet. Chalk surface really works.
