Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
This flashlight is praised for its exceptional brightness and powerful illumination capabilities, with multiple brightness settings including a very bright high mode. However, there are some mixed opinions on the design, with concerns about the switch being too easy to accidentally bump and the plastic lens seeming thin. A few customers also experienced issues with battery life and leakage. Overall, the majority of reviewers are very satisfied with the flashlight's performance and consider it a great value.

Poor design for battery replacement. If there’s any corrosion in the cap, your flashlight is now a fishing weight. You will never get it out without breaking the housing for the batteries.
Great Flashlight - Poor Batteries
I'll echo BadBill's review. The flashlight works well...very bright and well-built. However, I also had to destroy the battery sleeve when trying to replace the batteries. Why? The original batteries had corroded and glued the sleeve in the tube. My recommendation is, upon purchase, to immediately replace the original batteries with some brand name ones to avoid corrosion.
Great Flashlight
First thing to do is throw the Utilitech batteries away and use Duracell. I would have given it a 5 star rating but one of the two that I purchased quit working within 6 months. Come to find out the Utilitech batteries leaked and corroded the inside so bad I had to destroy the battery sleeve to get the batteries out. Four of the nine AA batteries leaked. I took it to Lowes for an exchange and they told me to contact Utilitech, which I'm currently trying to do.
Destroys Batteries
I work security and need a reliable flash light that I can use for a couple of hours in a single night. This is not a flash light that can meet either of those criteria. It literally destroys batteries, name brand batteries included, within 2 hours of use. From the other reviews it seems I'm not the only one who has experienced these issues. This light seems to have some serious flaw that will destroy batteries and corrode the inside of the battery tube even if the light is barely used.
Batteries leaked
Bought one as a gift for myself in December 2015 in a half price sale. Tried to use it in August 2016 but the batteries that came with it had leaked and corroded and ate up the metal parts. Do not store the flashlight with the batteries that came with it.
Received it as a gift, love it!
So I am a bit of a flashlight and battery nut, in that I need both to be durable and work well for what I need. I have a variety of flashlights, but I wanted one I would be able to carry that was at least 1000 lumens. So I had gotten this one from my parents, and though I can't attest to the batteries that come with it being the best (they ran out after about 2 days of intermittent night usage), once I upgraded my batteries to rechargeable ones, first trying it with SunLabz and then later tried ...
Good Strong Flashlight
Very happy with this product. Press the switch one time for the 1000 lumen setting, which is bright enough to see a good distance with clarity, press a second time for a lower setting that is good for close-in work or confined spaces (under the sink, etc.). Press the switch a third time, and the flashlight blinks at the high-power brightness setting. I could do without the blinking, as it is pretty pointless in a normal working environment. Also the switch is raised above the case of the flashli...
I can see the light...
Liked it so much, I went back and bought a second one for the Jeep before the price bounced back up. Good size, good weight, super bright, and nice finish. My only complaint and I am not sure how you would get around this is the clicking through from bright, lower light, to blinking. I would just like light on or off. But, that is a minor complaint.
Bad design
Batteries ( I think the ones that came with it) apparently corroded. Since the batteries were lodged in an interior cartridge it wedged inside the flashlight making it impossible to get it out and I ended up tearing it up trying to get them out. An expensive flashlight for only one battery cycle.
