If you are looking for a stove that will be fully controlled by a remote thermostat, this is not the stove for you. With an external thermostat you only have the option of running it in a high/low setting and not an on/off setting. The unit puts out a great amount of heat, so I am able to run it on level 1 to heat my home, but with it only running in a high/low mode, it just keeps running the same amount. Rating the American Harvest pellet stove

I own 3 pellet stoves including the American Harvest stove. It is an older model 6040. This stove is unique with the agitator that stirs the pellets while they are burning! I have been very pleased with it!

Freezing In PA

Go to your local stove shop and buy from them. Bite the bullet, borrow money, whatever you have to do but DO NOT PURCHASE A PELLET STOVE FROM LOWES. Everything they sell is mass produced garbage. I bought a special order stove from them, an Englander, and it DIED in less than three months! Parts came loose and destroyed the unit. This US Stove was it's replacement and it too has failed in less than a year of ownership. It needed $200 of parts in less than 9 months of use and of course NOT covere...

We've had & used this stove for a month now... it was purchased as a replacement for a 15 year old pellet stove that bit the dust. It is very effecient, uses about 3/4 bag of pellets / day (we haven't tried any of the other fuel alternatives)... and seems like a real workhorse.
