Check out the Best Selling Portable Generators on Lowes.com
Ratings may include incentivized customer reviews.
The generator has received mixed reviews. Customers praise its performance, reliability, and features like the digital readout and extended power panel, reporting it has powered their homes during outages. However, some have experienced issues such as flywheel failure, oil leaks, and problems with the battery and electric starter. The generator is also quite loud. Overall, it may be a good value for occasional use, but quality control and customer service concerns make it less suitable for frequent or demanding commercial use.

Rules about generator safety: This is a very important announcement that everyone needs to know just to make sure. It is important to follow all generator safety rules whenever we use portable generators: Everyone must see this. This is just a reminder for everyone’s safety. 1) KEEPING OTHERS SAFE: Please do not allow an unqualified person or your children to operate and service the portable generator. Just because some manuals don’t say that doesn’t mean it’s safe. That is important against...
Powerful generator, nice design
I waited for a few weeks for this unit to come in stock at my local Lowes. I didn't want to have it delivered because it is very heavy, and would probably get damaged. I am planning on hooking it up to my home, so I wanted something with a low harmonic distortion and lots of power! This unit has all that at a nice price (I also had a 10% off coupon). I really liked the idea of the power panel telling me how many watts I am using. I can avoid over loading it, and risking damage to generator or ho...
Power Up Results
First let me say I researched portable generators for weeks. I wanted to find an American made generator or at least one with some American made parts. Then I wanted to look into the warranties. I did not want to have to deal with hauling a 250;b generator into a store if it broke. So I looked at all the direct ship generator sites, home depot, Lowes--you name it. Long story short--only Lowes with their extended warranty will come out to your house to repair the generator. ll the other warranti...
Great Generator for the money
I waited to make this review, to give ample time for a complete and thorough review based on my own experience. I've had this genny for 2 years now, through a hurricane and 2 nor'easters with over 250 hours logged on it, and I would strongly recommend this unit for anyone needing a genny this size. It has proven to be a great buy, and I am very happy with my purchase! That being said, let me point out a few negative details first: The extend-a-panel! Great concept, and if your going to use it, ...
Stout, looks well made, heavy
I just bought this generator to use on my 1993 Ford F-Super-Duty service truck. The primary use is to power three 120 VAC circuits; one of which is solely to power an air compressor, and two service duplexes. The final circuit is 220 VAC to power a 225 amp buzz box welder. I realize the welder should have a 50 amp breaker, but I will never run it beyond 90 amps, and mostly 75 amp, so I think the 30 amps should handle that. First thing I noticed is the weight of the unit. I researched several gen...
Good Unit for the Money
Make no mistake, this is no $4,000 Honda generator, but for a $900 unit, it compares very favorably to all others in the 7,000 - 7,500 watt and $1,000 or less price range. The quality and features seem to be as good or better than the other units available to me locally (mostly Generac, and a couple of others such as Black Max and another I can't remember). By the way, if you want to connect it to your main breaker or a switch box via the 30 amp / NEMA 14-30 plug, you'll need to purchase a chor...
Great Performer
Living in FL means putting up with occasional tropical storms, and the risk of power outages. We're on a well, so no power also means no running water. After doing my homework, 7 months ago I bought the 7000 XP, in part because it was named the overall winner in a generator roundup test done by the leading consumer products testing magazine. Rather than running extension cords through doors or windows and snaking them through the house (does anyone like digging behind the fridge for the plug?), ...
Best all around medium sized generator
After much research, I settled on this 7,000 watt Troy Built for the following reasons: - 7,000 watts was the right level of power for me. I plan on running an oil burner for heat/HW, 2 fridges, and various lights, TV etc. When you add it all up it comes to about 4,000 to 5,000 watts. You don't want to be running any engine at 100% load for long periods of time, so I sized my generator in the 7,000 to 8,000 range. - Consumer Reports Best Buy - Power Panel. This was not really talked up in the...
2 1/2 days of putting this generator to the test
We have lost power for days at a time over the years due to storms and snow/ice that they are not prepared to deal with here in Virginia. Last winter was the worst. 5 days with no travel, no power or water (we have a well) or heat except wood stove. FYI...it takes one hour to melt enough snow to flush a toilet one time using a gas grill, a large pot and lots of snow. Not wanting to repeat this experience, I campaigned for a generator. The wife started a cash envelope which grew to enough by Oct...
High Output, digital information screen
I was not in the market to buy a home generator. My wife and i had talked in the past, but decided to save our money for a new house. Unfortunately, we experienced an ice storm followed up by a brutally cold 0 to -10 temperatures and no electricity for 5 days. We borrowed a generator from my parents. Fast forward to 3 years later. Extremely strong storm blew through with 92+ mph winds and knocked power out for a large amount of people. With the devastation and destruction as bad as it was we dec...
