Should have bought this sooner
It does what it should. Got to the bottom of my compost bin so I could mix it all up.

Very awkward design
The spiral part digs into the compost, and you can lift it up, so in a sense it does what it's supposed to do, but the poor design makes it unnecessarily difficult to use. - Instead of holding the top still and rotating the middle, you have to hold the middle and rotate the top, which is much more awkward. - There's no handle for the middle part where you have to hold it still. - The handle at the top isn't free spinning, and it has sharp bits of plastic sticking out, so it's constantly scra...
I would recommend this tool.
This tool makes the aeration much easier. It is simple but effective.

Even better than I hoped for
Finally ordered this after months of dawdling due to the price tag. The reviews indicated it would be the best solution available for me. I have a very deep, enclosed compost bin (city yard waste bin) that NEEDS turning due to the closed structure, but a pitch fork would never work. The bin had never been turned in close to a year, and was full to the brim. This tool worked extremely well. The one thing you should know. . ....
Just used it for the first time,in a compost bin with 2 and a half feet of compost. Worked a charm, except that strings on tea bags, (i drink a lot of tea) spiraled around the aerator. From now on, I shall cut the strings off before throwing 'em into the bin!
