I didn't use this very much at all. I think I've had it for about 2-3 years and took it out 6 times. It just stopped working so no I can't recommend a product that doesn't last that long after hardly any use. I have no idea where the receipt is so this is a loss for me. I didn't buy any Toughbuilt products since then and I definitely won't now. Not tough lol.
Replacement Battery On/Off Issue
We've had the unit long enough to require replacing the batteries. Neither EverReady or Duracel batteries seem to work as replacements. We've downloaded and followed the instructions, confirming the battery voltages were new, and placed correctly in the unit for polarity, making sure that the Lock/Unlock switch is correct and that the unit is on a firm stable surface. To no avail. There seems to be something "magical" about the original Westinghouse batteries that came with the unit, because...
Stopped Working
Used only a handful of times before the horizontal line stopped working. Should have spent the money on better quality.
Good and Bad level
I will lead off the important part. Overall, I would not recommend the product but keep in mind I did not do an exchange, therefore, I cannot say if the product was defective. I purchased this level over the weekend for an immediate need. I was torn between the Bosch and this product. Based on the reviews on Lowe's and other sites I decided to save a few bucks. Toughbuilt 30ft laser level - poor choice of words
Purchased this product expecting a "Plug & Play" laser lever, set it up and shoot it down the hall to hang a long line of family photos...I could see with my eye that the laser level on the wall was far from being "level". on a 22ft hall the laser was off by over 1 inch! Good device that functions well; clamp is usable.
Great value, does its job well, and the included clamp works fairly well on a variety of supports-of-opportunity. While the clamp allows a good deal of flexibility, it's clunky to use and not the greatest for fine adjustments. The clamp base comes off to reveal threads for a tripod mount which I found I ended up using more frequently.
