I purchased 3 of these to store pet supplies: leashes, collars, grooming tools, etc. They do stack quite well and are sturdy. There is a hole drilled and a dowel peg supplied for each end to fit into the crate above. These don't supply more than reassurance, they don't provide any real support, but the crates stack quite well and will stand on their own regardless. Functional but Disappointing Quality of Slats
The slats used for back, bottom and front were of such rough finish, they diminished the overall quality. They were sturdy enough and attached with staples but the finish made me question their impact on any content placed in the bin.
