Batteries fell out inside
The cover for the battery compartment fell off and all four batteries fell out inside the locked safe. Obviously without batteries, entering the code did not work to open the door. Luckily I did keep the key out and in an accessible place so I could open it to access my items and discover what happened. I'll be looking out for other unexpected issues with this product.
